Brunette Shoe

I was getting too old for this, and so was she.

“I’m open for anything,” she'd said, and there was evidence she meant it. But it was obvious this brunette was trying to cover up something that didn't want to stay covered. She probably thought she was doing a pretty fair job of it, but in the end I was sure I'd get to the bottom of it.

Every shoe tells a story — The brunette hair is making a futile attempt to cover the grey beneath.

The show theme was "True Colors". My mind immediately went to "False Colors" and I created a Blonde Shoe, a Brunette Shoe and a Redhead Shoe. It was the first time I'd done a series where all three shoes were based on the same "starter shoe". It's not easy to tell, because they all seem so different. I do that all the time now, partly so they look harmonious on the wall at a show opening, but aI also find it fun to see how different they can be and still be based on the same shoe.
