Wormy Shoe

I'd come this close to picking her up.

Now that she'd shown me what she was really made of, the thought of touching her made my skin crawl. For the first time in my life, it was easy to keep my hands to myself.

I had to start hanging out in more well-lit places. I wriggled away, leaving her to whatever rock she'd crawled out from. under.

Every shoe tells a story — I have a love/hate relationship with this piece. Love the bugs and how I used the worms, especially that one coming up out of the ground. And yet...it's so creepy I have a hard time even looking at it. People like it, though, which is good. It's probably one of the most successful, when you come right down to it, because there's almost no part of it that's still a shoe. Okay, maybe it's one of my new faves (that happens a lot).

I made this shoe as an entry for a show with some kind of an insect theme I didn't even end up getting into. Sigh.
